How to connect a custom domain?

Tutor Platform allows schools to connect their school website domain to the platform. This way, visitors will enter a url with your school’s name rather than the default for Tutor Platform.

You would need to allocate two subdomains, so that each portal can be housed under your domain.

Tutor Platform works through two portals:

Check out support articles from your domain provider: Rocketspark, GoDaddy, Hostinger.

How to setup the subdomains?

  1. Navigate to your domain provider’s DNS settings for the domain you wish to use with Tutor Platform. DNS settings are usually found in the settings menu of the purchased domain.

  2. Create a new CNAME record, for the first subdomain. Fill in the information according to the table below. Repeat this step, using another Name.

  3. Send the subdomains to your account manager at Tutor Platform.

Any word that you wish to use as a subdomain. For example, in learn.tutor-platform.com, learn is the name of the subdomain.

Set the value to ingress2.tutor-platform.com for both records.

If not required, leave TTL blank or set it to automatic.

We recommend using short academic names, such as learn, teach or admin, for the manager portal. Shorter URLs are easier to remember for students and employees of your school.

Finishing touches

After you’re done with all of the steps, you should 2 subdomains that look something like this:

  • learn.YourDomainName.com

  • app.YourDomainName.com

Learn and App, in this case, is what we had for “Name” in the table.
